The Rx.com Mod Team has created this Service Play sub-forum in order to supply an area for Rx Service Play Posters to expand upon their posting topics without creating a logjam in the main forum where the three principle threads are maintained..

Posters can track services here if they care to but we will need any trackers to do so in an accurate and civil manner. We did not create this area for posters to ridicule or bash any services..

You can also discuss who is hot and who is not. The general state of the pay for plays industry and any other subject or topic related to service plays.

You can also create individual threads about specific services and discuss them freely but civilly. Again bashing and abusive treatment of any services will not be tolerated.

Please remember, this forum is not here for regular posters who cap their own games to post ther daily plays. Please use our individual sport forums to post your plays. Professional cappers (those that sell plays) must remain in the Site Promotion Forum.

The Rx.com will not tolerate posters that post false records of any services they track. Please be truthful if you decide to track a particular service.

Lastly The Rx Moderators are appealing to you our everyday posters to report any promotional threads or posts that are made by services or individual touts. No links or contact information to an individual service will be allowed. Just the name of the service. Please report any threads or posts that are promotional attempts by services and touts to use this forum to promote themselves..

Posters can easily report a promotional post by using the triangular Report-a-Post Icon at the bottom left of all post boxes. The poster name of any poster who reports a post that is out of line will be kept strictly confidential.

I will leave this thread open for a month to take questions and do my best to answer them. I will check in daily but am off on Wednesday and Thursday.

I hope this additional Service Play Forum will satisfy those posters that would like to widen the scope of topics relating to service plays and the industry in general to have their own threads. Mods will be liberal as possible regarding topics but this forum was specifically created to allow you more freedom to express your ideas regarding service plays and related subject matter. No off topic threads will be allowed.

Thank you, wilheim

NHL All-Star Game: What bettors need to know

Team Staal (-105) vs. Team Lidstrom (-103)

The NHL season shuts down this weekend for the league’s All-Star Game in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Here are a few things you need to know if you are interested in betting on hockey's midseason classic.

New format

Desperate to generate more interest in the All-Star Game, the NHL changed the format of the game this year.

For the first time ever, teams were formed with a fantasy draft Friday as captains Eric Staal and Nicklas Lidstrom picked their sides like elementary school kids make teams on the playground.

Crowd favorites

If you think having the support of the crowd could make a difference, look no further than Team Staal.

Staal captains the Hurricanes, who are the host of Sunday’s game. But it doesn’t end there. Staal selected teammate and former Stanley Cup champion goaltender Cam Ward with the first-overall pick in the draft, then snatched up Hurricanes star rookie Jeff Skinner in the 11th round.

Team Lidstrom has no Carolina players on its roster.

Getting offensive

Whether it was intentional or not, Team Staal and Team Lidstrom’s lineups reflect the mentalities of their captains.

Staal, a forward, has gone with six players that have 23 goals or more this season. Lidstrom, a future Hall of Fame defenseman, has the league’s top three goal-scoring blueliners (himself, Dustin Byfuglien and Brent Burns). Team Lidstrom’s defense corps has combined for 214 points this season, 46 more than Team Staal’s blueline unit.

Who’s there?

Some of the NHL’s top point producers this year will suit up in the All-Star Game, including league leader Steven Stamkos of the Lightning.

Keith Yandle of the Coyotes, who leads all defensemen in points, was a last-minute injury replacement to participate in the midseason classic.

The Bruins’ Tim Thomas, the league leader in goals-against average and save percentage, is one of six goalies that will play in the game. Thomas has been the winning goalie in the past two All-Star Games.

Who’s not there?

Arguably the league’s brightest star, Penguins star Sidney Crosby, is sitting this one out as he deals with concussion-like symptoms.

Other significant scratches are the Penguins’ Evgeni Malkin and the Flames’ Jarome Iginla.

History lesson

The NHL All-Star Game initially was an exhibition game pitting the defending Stanley Cup champions against the best players from the other teams in the league. The format then changed to have the top players from each conference go against each other, while the league also experimented with a North America vs. World format for a few years in the 1990s.

Whatever the format, NHL All-Star Games have lacked intensity and, most of all, defense in recent years. The last three games have featured 21, 15 and 23 total goals - averaging about four times the amount of goals in a typical NHL regular season contest.

Sunday's Best Bowl Bet

AFC vs. NFC (-1, 63)

AFC VS NFC 2011 NFL Pro Bowl Free Pick & Preview: Give me the AFC in this one. I like the Vick/Brees dynamic for the NFC, but Peyton Manning and Phillip Rivers give the AFC a nice chance to do work through the air. I doubt Vick will be running all that much, so the threat there isn’t as great. The NFC has nice running backs, but with Chris Johnson, Foster, and Jamaal Charles, the AFC is loaded with game breakers that should do well in this format. I also just think the AFC is the tougher conference, no NFC West on that side. I like them to win this week.

I also think the NFC loses more star power in the Super Bowl. I mean, the Steelers didn’t get a receiver in the pro bowl, Big Ben wasn’t voted in, Mendenhall had a great season, but he wasn’t voted in. I guess they lose something defensively, but the Steelers are full of blitzling linebackers and the Pro Bowl is 4-3 based. Both sides will miss big playmaking stars that are Super Bowl bound, but I think the NFC loses the most with the Packers’ players missing the game.

The AFC just has the tougher group of guys defensively, at least guys that are too competitive to play soft, even in a game like this. They have those key play-makers that I mentioned earlier, CJ and Charles (among many others) and with Manning and Rivers leading the way, accuracy won’t be missing from the AFC.

I like the AFC by a touchdown.

PICK: AFC (+1.5) @ NFC

PICK 'N' ROLL

Sunday's Best NBA Bet

Miami Heat at Oklahoma City Thunder (N/A)

If the Thunder goes as Kevin Durant goes, then Oklahoma City had better hope its star player and MVP candidate keeps crashing the boards.

In the six games this season where Durant has collected double-digit rebounds, he has cracked the 30-point margin in four of those outings. It might not sound like much, but that is about two points per game more than his season average.

And every bit matters for the Thunder.

In a 118-117 overtime win over the Timberwolves earlier this week, the “Durantula” snagged a career-high 18 rebounds. Not surprisingly, this aggressive mentality carried over to his scoring, where he dropped a career-high tying 47.

“I’m just running in there trying to get them,” Durant said. “In college, I was a good rebounder and I wanted to bring that to the league. I think my first two seasons I got away from it. Last year, I did better, and this year I’m trying to do a little better as well.”

And he should get plenty of chances to grab rebounds against the Heat. Miami has been outrebounded in five of their past eight games as an opponent also has finished as the game-high rebounder five times over that span.

PICK: Oklahoma City Thunder

Sunday's Best NCAAB Bet

Maryland Terrapins at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (+3, 139.5)

Terrapins forward Jordan Williams has been destroying the opposition this year, averaging 17.6 points and 12.1 rebounds per game with his massive, 6-foot-10, 260-pound frame. He has been a force down low all season for Maryland, owning the paint by stringing together 13 straight games with a double-double.

However, that string was surprisingly snapped in a recent blowout of Virginia. Despite logging 32 minutes in the victory, he finished with a mere four points and six rebounds as he picked up a pair of fouls and committed two turnovers. The reason? He was harassed all night by Cavaliers 7-foot center Assane Sene.

The Yellow Jackets can offer a similar matchup problem for Williams with 6-foot-11, 258-pound center Brian Miller. His 4.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game won’t scare anyone. But his 1.9 blocks a game and massive size is enough to help neutralize the Terrapins’ only inside presence. In two games against Georgia Tech last year, Williams averaged just eight points and nine rebounds, including one foul out.

If Williams Struggles, only guard Cliff Tucker, the team’s sixth man, averages double figures at 11.7 points per game. Maryland is also a bad 3-point shooting team. The Terrapins are 167th nationally from beyond the arc, making a mere 34.4 percent of their attempts.

"In ACC play, teams aren't going to let Jordan win games by himself," said Tucker.

But who else will consistently help him?

PICK: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Team Staal (-105) vs. Team Lidstrom (-103)

The Fantasy Draft is over and now it comes time to see which team gels the quickest and which team can pull it all together. Team Lidstrom is maybe the better overall lineup but team Staal not only has three members from the home-town Hurricanes. It also has Eric Staal’s brother Marc on the squad. Will it be the grit of Team Staal or the finesse of Team Lidstrom that prevails?

Goaltending will never win an NHL All-Star game but let’s take a look anyway. Team Staal spent their first pick on Cam Ward and filled out their stable with Henrik Lundqvist and Carey Price. Solid for sure but the edge goes to Team Lidstrom however – they have three of the top six in goals against average on the roster – Tim Thomas, Marc-Andre Fleury and the uber-hot Jonas Hiller.

Like goaltending, defense is not going to be the name of the game. It is more about which defense can contribute the most on offense. Team Lidstrom who the top three scoring defensemen on the roster – Keith ****le, Nick Lidstrom and Dustin Byfuglien. Shea Weber and Duncan Keith were brilliant in last year’s Olympics and should be teamed together on Sunday. For Team Staal, Dan Boyle, Kris Letang, Mike Green, Zdeno Chara and Marc Staal are nice, but not up to the level of Team Lidstrom.

Let`s peruse the forwards now. Team Lidstrom has the more dangerous and talented centers – Steven Stamkos and Henrik Sedin are top point getters in the NHL so far and Brad Richards isn’t that far behind. Team Staal will have two Carolina centers – Eric Staal and Jeff Skinner along with Ryan Kelser and Paul Stastny.

On right wing, Team Lidstrom is fast and they are scary – this is a game made for players like Patrick Kane, Martin St. Louis and Danny Briere. Like the centers, Team Staal has big, strong right wingers – Rick Nash, Claude Giroux, Corry Perry and David Backes. Give the nod to Team Lidstrom when it comes to right wing!

Left wing is the only area that Team Staal has a decided advantage. Alex Ovechkin, Daniel Sedin, Patrick Sharp and Partik Elias are plain scary! Team Lidstrom only has one natural left winger and will juggle a few of their stacked other positions to fill the void.

Betting Prediction:

Team Staal went with the buddy approach. Drafting three Carolina Hurricanes and one Staal brother could be the difference in this game. Team Lidstrom took the best player available each time and didn`t worry about fulfilling obligations. Nick Lidstrom and his Assistant captains did a great job of drafting a team and based on them being better in four of the five aspects of the game, I have to give them the edge.

PICK: Team Lidstrom -110 and the Under – believe it or not!

BETTORS' TIPS AND NOTES
Bettors' Best Friend (BBF): Sunday's Wagering Tips

Lines To Watch

Cleveland Cavaliers at Orlando Magic (-17, 204)

This line opened as high as -18 in favor of Orlando but was bet down to -17 just hours after post. Who’s Hot?

New Orleans Hornets – The Hornets have won 10 straight games, going 7-3 ATS in that span.

Who’s Not?

Cleveland Cavaliers - Cleveland has lost 19 straight games and is just 4-15 ATS in that span.

Injury Not To Be Overlooked

Amare Stoudemire – The New Knicks forward is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Pistons after spraining his right knee against the Atlanta Hawks Friday. Hawks forward Marvin Williams fell on Stoudemire’s leg, leaving the All-Star forward to limp off the court. Fellow forward Wilson Chandler missed Friday’s game with a sore calf and is also questionable versus Detroit Sunday.

Game Of The Day

Boston Celtics at Los Angeles Lakers (-2.5, 185)

Notable Quotable

"We just have to be careful with what we're taking. I know he wouldn't do it on purpose. He's upset, of course. I just told him it's a minor setback for a major comeback." – Memphis Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph on O.J. Mayo’s claim that an energy drink made him test positive for steroids. Mayo is serving a 10-game suspension for violating the NBA’s drug policy.

Tips And Notes

- The New York Knicks will be without budding shutdown defender Shawne Williams when they host the Detroit Pistons Sunday. Williams was suspended one game after a scuffle with Atlanta’s Marvin Williams Friday night. Williams’ absence won’t force books to move the odds, however, he had an impressive performance against the Miami Heat Thursday, guarding LeBron James and forcing the two-time MVP to shoot 7 for 24 from the field in a 93-88 win for the Knicks.

- Phil Mickelson (+500) fired a 68 on Saturday to grab a share of first place with second-round leader Bill Haas (+300) at 12-under-par 204 in the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. Hunter Mahan (+1,400) eagled the final hole to shoot a 69 and jump into a two-way tie for third place with Bubba Watson (+1,400). Anthony Kim (+700) is one stroke back alone in fifth and Jhonattan Vegas (+5,000) is alone in sixth at 9-under. A crowded pack of six golfers are five strokes back from the leaders, led by Dustin Johnson (+1,800) and Brandt Snedeker (+8,000) at 7-under.

- The Siena Saints are likely to be without star guard Clarence Jackson when they face the Niagara Purple Eagles Sunday. Jackson, who is scoring just under 16 points per game, was downgraded to doubtful after missing Friday’s game versus Loyola-Maryland. Jackson hasn’t played since suffering the injury against St. Peter’s on Jan. 21. Reserve guard Kyle Griffin is also expected to sit out Sunday with a shoulder injury that forced him out of Friday’s game as well.

DAVID MALINSKY

AFC @ NFC
PICK: Over

No, we are not going to make a full play here. But there have been enough requests for a break-down of this “stand alone” that we can offer something worthwhile, if played at the right level. If you must have some entertainment, there is genuinely enough here to make a small play.

The silliest All Star games are the NFL and NHL, largely because contact is a major part of those sports, and contact disappears in these showcases. So naturally the oddsmakers make the Totals higher, but in this case still not high enough – there have already been 11 Pro Bowls in this millennium, and seven of them have topped this Total. We would not be surprised to see another.

Here is the base – in these modern times, pass defense is all about blitzing and disguising coverages. It just so happens that the best two defenses in the NFL are meeting for the Vince Lombardi Trophy next week and how do they do it? Plenty of blitzes and changing looks from their 3-4 schemes, trying to keep the opposing QB’s out of rhythm. But that disappears here. Defenses are forced to run a 4-3 at all times, no blitzes are allowed, and there can not be more than four DB’s on the field at any time. QB’s are also allowed to throw the ball away without risk of intentional grounding being called. So the rules aid the passing game, and the oddsmakers try to adjust accordingly. But not quite enough, in this instance.

Here is the added edge this time. Because of the Super Bowl, Troy Polamalu, James Harrison, Nick Collins, Clay Mathews, Charles Woodson and Tramon Williams are missing from the defenses. They will also be without Nnamdi Asomugha, Lance Briggs, Dwight Freeney, Ed Reed, Asante Samuel, Ndamukong Suh, Brian Urlacher and Patrick Willis because of injury. Yes, the offenses are also missing some key cogs, but not nearly to this extent. So if you need the action, there is nothing wrong with a 2* wager here, in a game in which it would be no surprise at all if the losing team is able to score into the 30’s, especially with some tough competitors at the QB positions that will definitely play to win the game, and each side having home-run threats at RB.
